Welcome to the City of Ladue Building Department
We will be happy to assist you with your questions. We would like you to browse our website to save you time and phone calls, we have a lot of useful information already at your fingertips. The building department is open for business from 8 am - 4 pm. We close from 12-1 for lunch. This department has a very high call volume, if we are not available to take your call, please leave us a message and we will return your call promptly.
The Building Department is responsible for reviewing and issuing plumbing, HVAC, and building permits for projects within the City of Ladue. The Building Department also reviews and addresses code or ordinance violations as necessary within the City. All of our applications are on this website as well as a current building department fee schedule. When making an application, please bring a completed application with owner or agent signature, trustee signatures on plans [Ord. 2153](if project modifies outside of home or lot) and two sets of signed and sealed plans. We also require a $100 non-refundable deposit when making application. (Note: If application is for a new residence the deposit is $500)
Requesting a permit extension:
If you have received a notification that your permit has expired, please contact us through the link below to request an extension. We will respond via email once it is processed. You must include the project address and permit number for the extension to approved.

Most of your questions can be answered by viewing our ordinances or our zoning ordinance #1175. We are currently under the 2015 International Building Code, 2015 International Residential Code, 2015 International Mechanical Code, and 2015 International Plumbing Code, 2015 Fuel Gas Code, 2015 Property Maintenance Code, 2015 Pool & Spa Code and 2015 Fire Code for residential and commercial. Please review the applications we have online, they provide helpful tips and checklists for your project.
Recent trustee notification changes: *EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY* 10/16/18: Ch. 120, R105.9.1 Any plans submitted to the Building Official for permit approval or for plans that are required to receive Architectural Review Board approval shall bear the original signature, print name and date of signature from a minimum of two (2) trustees. If the applicant demonstrates that plans were submitted to the subdivision trustees and such trustees failed and/or refused to act upon this within sixty (60) business days of submission, the requirement of this shall be deemed satisfied.
Plans without trustee signatures will not be accepted until such signatures are provided or the 60-day notification time as passed.
