NOTICE TO ALL BUSINESSES On November 21, 2022 Ordinance #2320, which amended sections of Chapter 50 Licenses and Business Regulations of Article II Taxes and Licenses, was passed by City Council. These changes will go into effect immediately. Changes include:

Business Licenses are to be renewed and paid each year. Notices of renewal are sent out in the first week of January for the applicable year and payment is due no later than March 1st.
There are different business types that are recognized in the code. Fees and application forms vary depending on your business type. Categories include: Retail gross receipts businesses (sliding scale fee), Service businesses (square feet at $0.20 per square foot), Home based businesses ($100 fee), Financial institution businesses ($5,000 fee), and Trash hauler businesses ($12 per truck).

Retail businesses (including new businesses) must also supply a No Tax due letter from the Missouri Department of Revenue. This letter can be obtained through their website at https://dors.mo.gov/tax/notaxdue/taxpayer.jsp. or by calling (573) 751-7200.
Food service businesses will need to provide proof of a satisfactory Health Department Inspection Report through St. Louis County Department of Health. https://stlouiscountymo.gov/st-louis-county-departments/public-health/food-and-restaurants/
ALARM PERMIT: According to Chapter 30 of the City’s Code of Ordinances, all businesses that have an alarm system are required to obtain a permit and renew this permit each year by January 2nd. To apply or for more information, visit the Alarms Permit webpage.
